Registration fees for property transfers and mortgages reduced

Reduction of registration fees for property transfers and mortgages extended to 30 June 2027

Cabinet has approved two draft notifications from the Ministry of Interior to extend the reduction of registration fees for certain property transfers and mortgages that expired on 30 June 2026.  

The transfer registration fee is reduced from 2% to 0.01% on the sale of: 

-condominium units 

-residential buildings in the form of detached houses, twin houses or townhouses 

-commercial buildings 

-land together with such residential or commercial buildings, 

if the purchaser is a Thai citizen and the sales price and official appraised price does not exceed Baht 7 million. 

In the case of a mortgage not exceeding Baht 7 million registered in respect of such transfer at the same time, the registration fee is reduced from 1% to 0.01%. 

The measures are to be effective from the date of publication in the Royal Gazette until June 30, 2027. 

Cabinet assigned the Budget Bureau and relevant agencies to consider allocating budget to compensate local administrative organizations (LAOs) for lost income as appropriate, to ensure sufficient funds for their normal operations.
